Popular Comedian Marriage Proposal Turned Down

A fast-rising popular comedian got turned down while attempting to propose to his girlfriend in Ikeja City Mall on Saturday 26th August, 2017 in the full glare of about hundred crowds. Tears were almost running down his cheek before close friends and on-lookers try to console him. According to a close pal, he was said to have been in love with the said lady simply known as Tolu since his days at the Babcock University. On Saturday the duo has gone to the ICM for a movie after which  Don Witty also known as Jide, a graduate of International Law from the Babcock University, and a holder of Master of International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos was vehemently refused by Tolu for a marriage proposal by him. All effort to speak with him as at the time of this publication prove abortive. Below is the visual of the incidence.

BRANDING

The word branding  naturally depicts to us a term or concept peculiar to the corporate world, but we are all a brand of some sort. Like companies, we are known and reputed for one thing or the other. Some companies brand have become household names such that they are being used for a product of some kinds; like Gala is for all kinds of sausage roll, Close up for all toothpaste, among others. Among humans, some names are reputed too. For instance, no list of great leaders will be said to be complete without names like: Nelson Mandela, Awolowo, Winston Churchill, Nkrumah, Mahatma Ghandi, etc. Friends, what brand are you? From the corporate world to social setting and even spiritual world, what are you noted for? A man or woman of excellence or mediocre, a peace or trouble maker, an honest or dishonest fellow, a prayerful or prayer less person... the list is endless. No brand becomes a brand overnight, it is gradual, in like manner, every day you build your brand through what you do or

The Drums of War

Image
The theater is set, the dancers have climbed the stage and the drummers are set to beat the drums to admiration and pleasure of the audience and onlookers, so let the music began I hear from men of violence and novice of war. My fear is when the songs began, even those who never crave to hear will hear it loud and clear. Man no doubt is designed to live in quest and conquest, so war and violence remain a twin partner of man's affair eventhough he claims to disdain it. The crave for war and subjugation of fellow men is as real as the rising of the sun, and appealing to mankind as a woman breast milk to a sucking child. On this note, Benito Mussolini submitted succinctly: ' war is to a man, what materni ty is to a woma n' ; such is the importance of war in human affairs. It was so real that at a time that war was the second most important occupation of mankind next to farming; and up till now, the defence budgets of most countries represent the chunk of most countries bud

Time To Remove The Yellow Buses, But...

Image
Sometimes when you drive on the roads of Lagos, you can never appreciate nor understand the pain and agony an average commuter in Lagos State faces in the hands of drivers and conductors of commercial buses. The experience could be harrowing, nauseating and hellish. Not only are the drivers and conductors reckless, heartless and mannerless but equally fraudulence as all attempts and prayer is for you to forget your balance (a.k.a change) with them. An average Nigeria driver, better still, Lagos driver lacks human and customer relations. They talk and act anyhow. Their faces portray horror all thanks to alcoholism and weed smoking. The expression customer is always right or is a king cannot be found in their dictionaries. When boarding their buses, you must not only have their exact fare, otherwise, you are on your own as far as your 'change' (i.e fare balance) is concerned. When you fail to have the required fare, two or more of you are lumped together to settle yourselves.

NIGERIA: A NATION WITHOUT HISTORY!

Image
History repeats itself, first as a tragedy, second as a fierce.                                   -  Karl Marx There is no nation without its own history but Nigeria appears to be an exception. Every day, events unfold before our very eyes but we are quick to drop them in the dustbin of the past without reminiscence about their impacts on the foreseeable future. The obvious is that generations coming behind fall a victim of such horrible experience. This accounts for our merry-ground from years to years.  To worsen the situation, we at a time removed history from our national school curriculums because it makes little or no sense to us. Consequently, the sweat of our founding fathers and heroes as well as heroines gone swept under the carpet resulting in debased value system.  This accounts for the present generation obsession with materialism without recourse to moral pedigree.   With the popularism of social media, I have come across certain facts about

Retooling the Nigeria State

Image
There seems to be a national consensus on the need for the restructuring, retooling and re-engineering of the Nigeria State but the modalities for its retooling remain a point of divergence. Significantly, there are at least four school of thoughts on the subject matter. A school of thought is of the view that the Nigeria entity is an unmanageable entity as a result of certain irreconcilable differences. Proponents of such school of thought include the likes of Nnamdi Kanu and Femi Fani Kayode, among others. The conclusion of these people is that everybody should go his own separate ways no matter the cost. Another school of thought is of the view that the Nigeria State is still a manageable entity. It is a project worth working on but which requires a retooling. Some of the proponents believed referendum and plebiscite is the way out. Thus without a sovereign national conference, the Nigeria entity will remain a myriad. There is however those who believed that the Nigeria State is
