When The President is Silence!

In Nigeria, the more things change the more they remain the same. We are nation and group of people who hardly learn from history. Sometimes, analysing and commenting on national and local issues could be as boring and nauseating as living in this country. (Pardon me, I almost wrote God's forsaking country, but deepest within me, I know things would have been worst, had it not been for the hands of grace over this land).

Granted, PMB did the right thing by transmitting power to PYO through the National Assembly as demanded by the Constitution. The question however is whether the transfer of power to the Vice Preaident as Acting President is suffice enough to justify the President continuous silence and incommunicado even in this digital age.

Am an ardent believer and supporter of this government, but the President continuous silence in the face of vox Populi left much to be desired. There are just two reasons why I think PMB and his handlers continue to keep mute: one, if  the President is not in good condition to express himself, and two, perhaps the Preaident is suffering from superior leadership mentality like most African leaders who doesn't care whose ox is gored. Either way, none is justifiable.

The people deserve to know what is going on with the number one citizen in the country. The truth however is that truth can only be hidden for sometime. Sooner or later, it will come out audaciously.

Unfortunately, the continuous silence of the President and the Presidency can only  contribute to the declining goodwill that the President and this government enjoys. The President and his handlers need to know that just as the President like any human being can become ill, and call for medical care; yet his medical condition cannot be a subject of privacy for a long time like any other private citizen for people will naturally ask questions, both out of goodwill and mischievous intentions.

In either way, the right to know lies with the people. Failure to do so will lead to speculation and multifarious assumptions. So let President Muhamodu Buhari speaks to us.

God Bless Nigeria!
