The Dance of Shame in the Hallow Chambers

The Nigerian polity could be amusing and disappointing at the same time, and so it seems in other climes because politics is an all comers affair; yet the flagrant and perpetual desecration of our sacred institutions by those who should be the protectors of our common heritage is and must be a serious such of concern to all discerning and progressive minded individuals.

While there is no doubt that the Eight National Assembly from inception till date has been embroidered in serial controversies -  from insubordination to political leadership in the choice of its principal officers, the political acradabra of screening of ministerial nominees,  budget padding saga, the Sarakigate on non-declaration of assets, ... and the not too distant Dino Melaye certificate gate cum alleged tax evasion by the Senate President on importation of #294m bullet proof car in a society where less than one third of its population cannot afford ideal three squares meals; the recent showdown with the executive on refusal of screening of Magu  as the substantive Chairman of EFCC is becoming unbecoming and the Residents Electoral Commissioners.

Apparently, who can blame them? The society deserves the leaders they get.

Or what does one expect from a conglomeration of questionable characters made up of alleged certificate forgers, accused drug addicts, irredeemable pheidopes, pathological womanisers, unappologetical selfishly greedy opportunistic rulers? Your guess is as good as mine.

Today, our Senators no longer concern  about what elective and appointed office holders do with their mandates but in what they wear to offices. What a shame of a nation!

Indeed, the dance of shame in the hallow chambers called the National Assembly must be stopped with immediate alarcrity before we all found ourselves dancing naked in the open markets, by then, it may be too late for us to retrace our footsteps. More importantly now is the attempt of the selfish majority to cow and silent the few saints fellow in the hallow chambers beginning with the suspension of Jibrin in the House of representatives and Ndume in the Senate yesterday. We must rise as a people to say no to this impunity. It is either now or never.

Specifically, I would have wept for the good people of Kogi West, but the tragicomedy of the supposed number one citizen in my home State contributed to an extent for my seemly indifference, yet tears rolled down my cheeks as am pained to the bone marrow for the collective insult and injury to our persons and sensibility.

Be that as it may, we must know my passivity and yours will not redress the trend, and prayers on the mountains and religious gatherings may not suffice, we must act as a people to say no to the continuous usurp of our common heritage and patrimony.

God bless my fatherland!
God bless Nigeria!!
