THE BLAME GAME

Man by nature is expected to be flawless, devoid of sins and mistakes at least by the biblical account of creation. So it is natural for him not to accept his fault as fault. In fact, by the biblical account of the fall of man, the natural thing was for him to blame someone else for his mistakes and woes. It is therefore not surprising that till date, man has always find it easier to blame others for his misdeeds and errors.

Indeed, man greatest power and privilege has become his undoings. The power to make choice arguably is the greatest power of mankind, but he is equally, his greatest undoings. What an irony!

Every day and seconds, we are faced with the need to choose among alternatives. Some under pressure, some others, in our comfort moments, yet we stand at the risk of bearing the brunt. The usual tendency is when our decisions turn out right, we are eager to acclaim the glory to ourselves, when otherwise, we blame others for our failures and mistakes. It is the natural thing to do and what we do.

It is however time to quit this game. It is time to stand and own up to our mistakes. It is time to be man and woman enough to call a spade a spade if we are to get to the Pinnacle of our lives, careers and businesses.

Rome, they say, was not built in a day. In same manner, our journey to success and  fulfilment to #purpose of life cannot be gotten on platter of gold. It will come with a price. Some of these prices will be costly, some will not; some might be fatal, some others might be less fatal, but in all, we must rise above the myriads of mistakes to get to our desired destinations.

You know it is easy to blame others for all sort of unkind misfortunes of lives we have experienced. Naturally, many would say their undoings is because they were not born with silver spoons. Thank God for your life, some were not even born at all; and there are millions of people with seemly and even more horrible circumstances that have rose from grass  to grace despite unpleasant misfortunes which sorround their backgrounds. So no excuse sir, no excuse ma!

Nigeria and Africa has not had it salubrious, some we say. The fact however is that there are hundreds of country who are worse off than we are, and yet they have individually and collectively turn their stories around. Perhaps, it has to do with good and visionary leadership, you are tempted to say- you may be correct.

Be that as it may, the task of Nation Building is the responsibility of all, that of leaders and followers alike. If Nigeria leaders have failed over the years, it is because, the followers have failed in their responsibilities too. I seem to love the narratives now, there appears a conscious awakening among the electorates for a new Nigeria at least with the PVC movement. Much more than is an active citizens who are conscious enough to hold the leaders accountable every seconds in office. Until that, our desired Nigeria may be a mirage.

My message in this piece is not to exonerate myself or to apportion blame. Far from it, we are all guilty from our personal lives to organizational lives and national life inclusive. The blame game must stop. If there is no light in your area, make attempt to find out why there is no light. If your street road is not tarred, go to the nearest local government to request for its tarring. If there is potholes on the road, don't just drive past, bring to the knowledge of concerned authorities.

If your life is not going the way you want, sit down to have a retrospection on what you have done right or not? Now is not the time for blame or self-regret either, it is time to turn a new leaf for a new life of your dream.

Thanks for the read. Have a great week ahead.
