One Election, So Much Suspense

It's funny but equally extremely worrisome that after 24 hours of the #NigeriaDecides2019 , final collation and release of the results of the #Presidential and that of the @nassnigeria is yet to be done. This is a setback to what happened in 2015.

Ordinarily, one would have expected an improvement from the @inecnigeria . We should be able to do better as a country. It's in this regards, all men of goodwill should see the digitalization of our electoral process as a way forward come 2023.

While we wait, it's important that the gladiator parties @OfficialAPCNg and @OfficialPDPNig should not do anything to subvert the will of the people through any form of manipulation, politics should not be a do or die affairs as the two parties are making us believe.

And one major way to reduce the pursuit of politics as a do or die affairs by politicians is to reduce the covert and overt material benefits attached to political offices. The second way is to change the present political system of winner takes all.

I wish representation at the parliament will be based on proportional representation, that is, members of the @nassnigeria and state houses of assembly will be determined in proportion to the number of votes won by political parties in the General Election. With that, there will be more modicum.

This is one way to remove or reduce blood bath from election that has become a characteristics of our #NigeriaDecides every four year.

Finally, my thought is with the family of all those who have lost their loved ones to this #NigeriaDecides ; in particular, the Kogi boy who just clock 19. People like him are the real heros of our democracy. May God comfort their families in Jesus name.

God bless Nigeria!
