NIGERIA SOVEREIGNTY AND CHINA LOAN: THE LAWMAKERS ERRED!

NIGERIA SOVEREIGNTY AND CHINA LOAN: THE LAWMAKERS ERRED While I'm concerned about the continuous and incessant borrowing of money by the government of President Muhammodu Buhari and previous governments from Federal to State, and State to Local Governments across Nigeria, I will be the last person to join in the frenzy of the House of Representatives that Nigeria Sovereignty is for sale based on the agreement signed between the Federal Government and Chinese company.  My concern about incessant loan and borrowings is based on my firm believe in sustainable development, which is simply defined as the execution and undertaken of projects for developmental purpose to meet the needs of the present generation without preventing future generations from meeting their own needs.  The truth however is that Nigeria Sovereignty is not for sale. What the clause in the agreement implies is that in case of default on the part of Nigeria to repay the loan, the Chinese comp

WHAT TO DO WHILE STUCK IN TRAFFIC

Image
Driving through traffic is one of the hardest things to do in life. It  can be frustrating and exasperating.  Unfortunately, it is one of the 'new normal' in our world today. Except, you don't live in the city, the possibility that you are going to get stuck in a city like Lagos at least once a week appears a sure-bet no matter how traffic 'predicter' you may be.  With over one billion vehicles in use and approximately two billion vehicles in use by 2035, the probability that motorists will get stuck in traffic is sure real than before. If you live in Lagos like me, I can bet you, you cannot escape traffic jams at least once in a month conservatively, "with  over 5 million cars and 200,000 commercial vehicles on the roads (when the national average is 11 vehicles per kilometre), Lagos daily records an average of 227 vehicles per every kilometre of road."(  Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA) (2020)   and Green Car Reports (2014).

NDDC SAGA AND THE REST OF US

In the last few weeks, the media space, traditional and the new media platforms have been bombarded with all sorts of gory and despicable stories about looting and relooting of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) fund.  Many people have opened their mouths in disbelief, but I'm the last person to be taken aback, considering the information I had at my disposal during my NYSC year.  Let me state here quickly before I forget, that the Buhari's government has failed and is failing on so many fronts, and surprisingly too is the opaque failure in the anticorruption crusade which many believe is his selling point. The regime is fast losing it, if it had not completely lost its cloak and mantra of integrity.  Back to my story. In 2009, I was posted to Delta State to serve. At the orientation camp of Batch A, I was one of the conspicuous names at the camp due to a number of activities I engaged in from Social Committee PRO to emerging as the Overall Best MDGs Trainee of the s

LACK OF INTEGRITY COSTS HIM HIS BREAKTHROUGH

Image
He was tall, dark, and handsome. He was good to look upon as a man like the Holy Scripture would put it. Everything about him seems to be perfect. He was too polished to be a commercial driver but the situation of the country has made him one. You can easily mistake his mien for an excellent character. There was no reason for me to doubt him but I still have to do my job.  It was an evening, he and the personal mechanic to my client who doubles as a close relation drove the mini commercial bus to be used as  Hire Purchase  to my compound. As they parked the bus, they walked towards where I was standing and greeted me affectionately which I awesomely returned in the same proportion and perhaps more. My client walked in, and we exchanged pleasantries.  I asked him for some questions, which he answered confidently. Just to assert my right, I blurted out jokingly that hopes he knows I have the power to determine whether he gets the vehicle or not. Can't remember whether he affirme

HUSHPUPPI AS A SCAPEGOAT

HUSHPUPPI AS A SCAPEGOAT Perhaps, before I convey my message here, let me make a confession: I've to Google up the above name to be sure I'm writing the correct one. What a name! Since the arrest of Hushpuppi, it seems there has been a steady declined in the obscene display of wealth on social media platforms. The Yahoo guys appears to be taken a bitter lesson from one of their commanders.  Before his arrest, everywhere you see people posting pictures of their wealth to attract unsuspecting but gullible victims. Some will tell you to send money and get hundred percent return on investment which the richest men like Jeff Bozz, Dangote and Bill Gate will even wink at. It's good to be rich and wealthy because money is a defense just as wisdom is a defense. Thus the earnest prayer of every individual including myself is to have enough and be able to give to others, but illicit pursuit of wealth will only end in regrets. Hence, the Bible said wealth gotten by vanity will not las
