HUSHPUPPI AS A SCAPEGOAT

HUSHPUPPI AS A SCAPEGOAT

Perhaps, before I convey my message here, let me make a confession: I've to Google up the above name to be sure I'm writing the correct one. What a name!

Since the arrest of Hushpuppi, it seems there has been a steady declined in the obscene display of wealth on social media platforms. The Yahoo guys appears to be taken a bitter lesson from one of their commanders.

Before his arrest, everywhere you see people posting pictures of their wealth to attract unsuspecting but gullible victims. Some will tell you to send money and get hundred percent return on investment which the richest men like Jeff Bozz, Dangote and Bill Gate will even wink at.

It's good to be rich and wealthy because money is a defense just as wisdom is a defense. Thus the earnest prayer of every individual including myself is to have enough and be able to give to others, but illicit pursuit of wealth will only end in regrets. Hence, the Bible said wealth gotten by vanity will not last.

Our dear nation Nigeria is currently going on a path of destruction, if nothing is urgently done. Positive values of integrity, honesty, hardwork, dignity of labour, excellence, perspiration and a whole lot of good morals are fast disappearing from our society.

People today no longer care about the source of your wealth, but your wealth and what they can get from it. Parents now pressurize their children to be rich no matter the cost. Ritualism is on the increase.

It's time to address the trend and one of the ways to do so is to reform minds through the social institutions starting with the family to religious houses to our educational system. The civil society also has a role play.

To all hardworking young people outside there, hold on a bit more, and try more, your limelight is closer than you imagine. You will smiles soon. Have a great weekend.
