SEX, GREED AND POWER

SEX, GREED AND POWER At the root of man's wickedness and inhumanity to humanity lies three things: sex, greed and power. Inherent in every behaviour of man that is not in synced with the ethos of the society can be situated within these three motivations: lust for sex, greedy desires, and obession for power. #Sex explains a man passion and lustful behaviours - the need to fulfil fleshly urge. It comes in form of lust, romance, and sexual intercourse. Most men will go to any extent to meet these needs because it's rooted in irrationality and unconsciously consciously motivated. A man in search of sex is half conscious and half of unconscious. Without discipline, man is nothing but a beast at this state. With #Greed comes preoccupation with self, self and self and all forms of selfish behaviour. Greed makes a man wanting all for himself and nothing for others. A greedy man is self-centered and think less about others. If there are three apples for three people, a greedy man ...

MAN AND SOCIETY

MAN AND SOCIETY Man is a product of the society and actor in it. What he is and he will be is determined by what he does and what others do to him. His existence, survival, and success in life is based on fate and faith. What he cannot control explain his fate. Of his faith represents what he does and believe in to be better than the beast. This is because man at his best is the finest in the animal kingdom. In his bad state, he is the worst of the animals. There is an evil I've seen under the heavens, it's the selfishness of mankind. Every man is for himself and no one. People hardly live for others. Yet, there are few men who will go all out to service others at their own personal expense. The questions that bothered me are many, but few are asked here: why do people hate others? Why do men seek after their own gains at the expense of others? Why are evil multiplying in the world of humanity? Why? #AJSinsight

GRACE DIFFERS

Image
What someone does repeatedly and go scotfree, another person may do it and get punished for it. It lies with grace and 'ori'; or maybe destiny. U must understand the grace u possess. Let me illustrate with real-life experience but won't mention names. #Grace   Starting with the Bible, there was a case of 2 kings - Saul & David. Saul was rejected as King all cos he failed to wait for Samuel to offer a sacrifice unto God, yet David not only cheated severally but also killed another person to get His wife, yet He was one of God's favourites. I know of two sisters in real life, one did an abortion once and never conceived again; yet another did over eleven times yet married and have several children. I know some may adduce medical explanation for it but I see grace in actions here.  #Grace Same business with the same capital and almost equal education, one person may prosper compare to the other person. Most times, we attribute to competence but I tell you it is somet...

TEACHERS AFFECT ETERNITY: MAKING A CASE FOR THE TEACHING PROFESSION

Image
As an undergrad, one of my most cherished memories was the day I gave a seminar defense of a group project on the topic:   Public Administration in Nigeria.  The Lecturer had divided the class into thirty groups with each group expected to write and defend on thirty different topics. Our group was the last on the list. As each group gave an account of themselves, the Lecturer was scoring and accessing simultaneously with the students who were adjudging through jeers and cheers.  As I walked up to the podium as a bride walks down the aisle to be betrothed to her sweetheart and life partner, I developed goose pimples knowing fully well that the fates of about fifteen colleagues plus my credibility were at stake. I know deep within me, so much was at stake to prove and disappoint the doubting Thomases.  My results had always spoken for me, it was time for me to speak for myself, but stage fright is nothing unusual to even the best of speakers.  Alone on the ...

SYCOPHANCIES AND DEMAGOGUES: THE BANE FOR POOR GOVERNANCE AND BAD LEADERSHIP IN NIGERIA

Image
Twelve hours ago, Nigeria reached the milestone of sixty years of Political Independence from the erstwhile colonial master- Britain. The question is how free are we as a nation and a people? Sixty years after the symbolic handing over of the 1960 Constitution to our founding fathers principally consisted of the trio of Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, the first and only Prime Minister of the FRN, Dr Nnamid Azikwe, the first and the only indigenous Governor-General of the Nigeria State, and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the first Premier of Western Region and the then Leader of the opposition; Nigeria and Nigerians appear to be in chain everywhere they go. Let's look at it from three main perspectives of Social, Political, and Economic. Socially, almost all Nigerians concurred that at present, Nigeria is a mere 'geographical expression'; borrowing the words of Chief Obafemi Awolowo. An average Nigerian does not seem himself as a Nigerian first without first referencing his ethnic nationality...

NIGERIA SOVEREIGNTY AND CHINA LOAN: THE LAWMAKERS ERRED!

Image
NIGERIA SOVEREIGNTY AND CHINA LOAN: THE LAWMAKERS ERRED While I'm concerned about the continuous and incessant borrowing of money by the government of President Muhammodu Buhari and previous governments from Federal to State, and State to Local Governments across Nigeria, I will be the last person to join in the frenzy of the House of Representatives that Nigeria Sovereignty is for sale based on the agreement signed between the Federal Government and Chinese company.  My concern about incessant loan and borrowings is based on my firm believe in sustainable development, which is simply defined as the execution and undertaken of projects for developmental purpose to meet the needs of the present generation without preventing future generations from meeting their own needs.  The truth however is that Nigeria Sovereignty is not for sale. What the clause in the agreement implies is that in case of default on the part of Nigeria to repay the loan, the Chinese...

WHAT TO DO WHILE STUCK IN TRAFFIC

Image
Driving through traffic is one of the hardest things to do in life. It  can be frustrating and exasperating.  Unfortunately, it is one of the 'new normal' in our world today. Except, you don't live in the city, the possibility that you are going to get stuck in a city like Lagos at least once a week appears a sure-bet no matter how traffic 'predicter' you may be.  With over one billion vehicles in use and approximately two billion vehicles in use by 2035, the probability that motorists will get stuck in traffic is sure real than before. If you live in Lagos like me, I can bet you, you cannot escape traffic jams at least once in a month conservatively, "with  over 5 million cars and 200,000 commercial vehicles on the roads (when the national average is 11 vehicles per kilometre), Lagos daily records an average of 227 vehicles per every kilometre of road."(  Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA) (2020)   and Green Car Reports (2014)....
